Artist Michael Maskarinec has lived, worked
and painted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for over 25 years.
He is best known for his groundbreaking digital approach to botanical/landscape painting. The medium has allowed him to merge his interest in computers with his passion for sketching and painting. Maskarinec's digital designs were firset featured in a 1999 exhibit entitled Digital Digitalis at the Weisshouse Gallery in Pittsburgh as well as the 2003 exhibit American Botanical Prints of Two Centuries at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation. Today, Maskarinec's digital works are featured in the recent Schiffer Book publication Today's Botanical Artists.
Throughout his career, Maskarinec's illustrations have been published in books and various magazines throughout North America including Rodale Press aand Garden Design Magazine. In addition, his work can be found in museums, corporate offices and in the homes of private collectors. He is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and was a guest speaker at the 2004 conference on the use of new technologies in Botanical Art.
